Extrusion

A Clextral BC-45 Twin Screw Extruder is available for processing a wide range of products including snacks, crispbreads, pasta, breakfast cereals, and co-extruded products.

The extruder is capable of producing 10-50kg of product per hour and is suitable for new product development as well as small scale production runs.

How does it work?
The extruder consists of two tightly fitting screws which rotate within a stationary barrel. Ingredients are ground and conditioned then fed into the screws where they are mixed, heated and conveyed along the barrel. The mixture is forced through the barrel and exits the extruder through a die, which causes the product to puff and change texture (along with the release of steam).
