Impossible Foods Visit The FoodBowl

On Wednesday the 5th, a $180m Silicon Valley start-up called Impossible Foods presented their revolutionary plant based beef burger to a handful of New Zealand's industry advocates and interested parties at The FoodBowl. The company has spent 4 years in private development before releasing their first product and are one of many 'new-age, disruptive technology' based food companies coming out of Silicon Valley tacking climate and sustainability issues. Impossible’ s goal is to transform the food system by iniventing better ways to manufacture meat and dairy products that consumers love but with 90% less water and land to produce it.
Nick and Jordan from Impossible presented their first product off the ranks - a beef burger patty that looks like meat, smells like meat, cooks like meat and most importantly tastes like meat made entirely from plants. This enables them to use up to 90% less land and water than traditional beef farming.
The FoodBowl invited guests who represented all aspects of the food industry to the special event to try and learn more. Needless to say, everyone was impressed!
