The MPI Exporter Regulatory Advice Service (ERAS) supports New Zealand exporters by making it easier to understand exporting requirements.

Ducks in a Row – a beginners guide to exporting

MPI’s ERAS have launched their beginner’s guide to exporting called “Ducks in a Row”. It’s the perfect starting place for those who don’t know where to start when it comes to MPI’s rules for exporting. Ducks in a Row is a plain-English introduction to some of the basic terms and rules that exporters need to know, providing you with a solid foundation to build your export knowledge and plans. After completing the guide, you should have a better understanding of:

  • How exporting works
  • The Government agencies involved
  • The rules you'll need to follow
  • How to get started with exporting

Petfood decision tree and glossary

Petfood is a fast-growing sector, with more and more businesses are looking to export. MPI have developed a decision tree to help exporters figure out which rules apply to you, and a glossary for easy reference to important terms you’ll need to know.

The ingredients in your product and the destination market requirements determine the rules that you’ll need to know. Use the decision tree tool below to find out what rules will apply to your product, with a full glossary to help you move ahead with your exporting journey.
