Going the extra mile – Fernglen Farm

Family-owned Fernglen Farm is based on the Wairarapa Coast and produce high quality sheep milk products using ethical and sustainable farming and production practices.

They approached FoodPilot in 2017 with the idea of a sports recovery drink, due to sheep milk’s naturally high levels of protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals. The most challenging aspect was achieving stability of the beverage, and many different parameters were explored in order to optimise the processing technique.

Fernglen Prebiotic Sheep Milk Range is now commercially available, they’ve expanded their milking and bottling operations and there’s a number of exciting new products in the works for overseas markets.

“Working with the expertise at FoodPilot allowed us to successfully create our products,” Fernglen Farm Co-owner Cameron Ravenwood says.
