Gozate NZ brings a South American favorite to Aotearoa

Translated from Spanish, Gozate means to enjoy one’s self and that’s the mission Gozate NZ are on!

Gozate NZ, a Christchurch start up is on a mission to share a South American favourite with New Zealand and offer Kiwis a real taste of South American!

That mission started with Franco De Tomas’s love for his native Alfajore, a chocolate biscuit sandwiched with Uruguayan dulce de leche and covered in chocolate. Franco along with 3 friends who shared the same vision and passion founded Gozate NZ in 2017 to bring their love of alfajores to the Kiwi market.

Bringing the alfajore to market saw GozateNZ engage with a number of local capability providers, starting with Christchurch’s’ Formula Foods, who provided product development support. Foodsouth provided referral support among the F&B innovation ecosystem via The Ministry of Awesome for start-up advice, ChristchurchNZ for Business Mentors support and Continental Kitchens in Rangiora for production support. Foodsouth also provided GozateNZ with packaging support via the Foodsouth pilot plant.

The future of GozateNZ is bright with momentum and interest gaining with local Canterburians being able to get their hands on a Gozate Alfajore direct from Gozate HQ in Christchurch with plans to launch in local cafes and supermarkets over the coming months. Gozate NZ are also available nationally online via the Gozate NZ website.

FoodSouth are the southern hub of the New Zealand Food Innovation Network. The Network helps firms and entrepreneurs take new products from concept to commercial production. FoodSouth sister hubs are The FoodBowl (Auckland), FoodWaikato (Hamilton) and the FoodPilot (Palmerston North.
