Taco Addicts Covid-19 Pivot

NZFIN - HAWKES BAY

Like many business people, Amber Sturtz has found that Covid-19 has come with its challenges and its opportunities.

Amber has been running her business Taco Addicts since 2016, bringing delicious flavours from her hometown of Austin Texas to the streets of Wellington. Taco Addicts’ flagship is its caravan "Prince" from which Amber serves delicious authentic Tex-Mex creations, including a great range of vegan offerings.

With Prince out of action due to Covid restrictions, Amber quickly initiated click-and-collect and delivery options for tacos, tortillas and condiments.

As she reviewed her amended business model, Amber recognised that her ability to continue to supply her Tex-Mex products to the retail supply chain via Moore Wilson stores was crucial to her survival. With a little more time on her hands, Amber is now focusing on developing one of her star ingredients - a vegan chorizo replacement - into a retail ready product.

While Amber’s passion remains with getting Prince back in action on the street and at festivals when the time is right, she can now increase the resilience of her business by developing her retail product range.
